When I was 4, God gave me the most important role I'll ever play—the role of a big sister.
It was super fun when I was little. I had this little tiny human to love all over. Then years passed and that little tiny human got bigger, more annoying and clingier.
Being fours year apart, it was hard to click growing up. We had different interests and problems, and frankly, I didn't want to spend time with my “annoying” little sister.
But boy, oh boy, have things changed.
Today, and everyday before (just took me a little bit of time to figure it out), my little sister is/always has/always will be my absolute best friend. Yes, I have other best friends but none compare to the relationship I have with my sister.
I like to think I’m one of the lucky ones. I got a little sister who is much cooler than I am. She’s incredibly beautiful, both inside and out. She’s talented in every way possible. She has a gentle heart and is full of compassion. And, not to mention, she’s got mad dance skills and killer style. Oh, and a d-o-p-e smile. She’s seriously so cool.
I have much to thank my sister for. She’s my main girl, supporter and motivator. I can count on her for anything and everything.
But the main thing I have my sister to thank for is the simple and important gift of being a big sister. Without her, I wouldn’t know what it’s like to love another human being with all my heart.
Because of her, I see the world differently. I think about how I can better myself and my surroundings so that I can be the best role model possible for her. I set goals and work hard so she will see what dedication and success look like. I develop genuine and meaningful relationships so she will see there’s good in world, and I invest in her life, so she’ll learn to invest in others.
I do it all for her.
Being a big sister is extremely important. It’s crazy to think that you have the power and ability to influence another's life, so influence and love on your little sister...a lot. Let her know she's awesome and that you love her because odds are she's more awesome than you are and deserves more love than you actually give her.
Love you lots, Bug. SPL
