As the semester ended I started watching a new show. I started watching Black-ish. Its about a well off black family and how they cope and or question living in a white society. It is like a modern version of The Cosby Show. What is great about the show is how relateable it is to me and black people now. The show talks the black expectation and how we deal with what is happening in society.
The black expectation is to do better than your parents. So that you as a person do not have to struggle like they did and to give the next generation. I relate to that because college was never an option- it was expected. I did not want to be living from paycheck to paycheck. I wanted to travel, own a house with my own personal library, go to San Diego Comic Con and see my name in credits.
The episodes have different topics that are evident in society. These examples are: black-white ratio in films, tv, dolls, etc. Black steriotypes about how we do not know how to swim, do not like to go to doctors. These are topics I have only seen up to Season 3.
I think this is a great show that everyone should watch. Its funny and shows another side of black people.
