After waiting patiently all of first semester, the opening of Aromas on the bottom floor of Maher spreads joy to all of the USD community from students to faculty and to the employees as well. Aromas has become a hit for USD, as it is the newly renovated coffee shop on campus. Since I am there every single morning, I'll tell you a few reasons why I think it is so great:
1. The Toast options are UNREAL.
Avocado toast with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese? Count me in. The newest toast option allows for many different toppings on sourdough toast from bacon to avocado to Nutella to hard boiled eggs. The only thing that is a little bit of a downer is that there is probably a slim to none chance of getting toast before your 8 am, but just another reason to go back later!
2. Cold Brew Tap
This creation is absolutely genius because not only are the flavors delicious (oh and by the way they are traded out seasonally), but you can avoid the long lines by getting a chip that you easily place up to the dispenser and it dispenses out your coffee. My favorite personally is the Vanilla Latte!
3. The aesthetically pleasing environment
Whether it's the succulents on the wall or the music playing in the coffee shop, I love being in Aromas. I love to do my homework in there because there are SUCH GOOD vibes in there. I've talked to people who were exposed to the old Aromas and there is no comparison because the new Aromas blows it out of the water.
4. There are puppies on puppies on puppies.
Right outside of Aromas is the best thing of all. Puppies. They are the cutest little things on the planet and it makes the Aromas experience that much better. Get your coffee on but also get your puppy on.
5. It's all dining dollars people.
No need to worry about your campus cash because everything is purchased using dining dollars which has its advantages for sure (I buy coffee every morning with my parent's money ;)) but also has a disadvantage because, hey, I've already used like 200$ of my dining dollars and I have the smallest meal plan. Uh oh.
Bottom line is that Aromas is the best addition to the USD campus. Couldn't be happier to walk down from my room groggy every morning but open the door to a world of coffee, crepes, and community.
