Something Far Worse Than A President

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."

It's more than just the man who received the most electoral votes. It's not just about the background of Donald Trump, it's the atmosphere. For most, this election is their worst nightmare. There are millions of people out there scared to see what the next day will bring. However, aside from any personal opinions of Donald Trump, the problem lies far beyond just him.

It is something far worse than a president. It's children scared to go to school, Americans terrified to wake up the next morning, LGBTQ+ afraid for their rights, females afraid for their rights, and the list could go on. It is not just the new face of America, it is now the new atmosphere of America. What once was a nation that stood together, that was the home of the free, that was a strong willed nation; is now a nation that cannot even so much as have an election without attacking opposing sides.

We cannot solely blame a man for the actions of others. Surely he may or may not have influenced those actions to arise, but that's not the point. The point is, there are children refusing to go to school because they are being told they are going to get deported, or are now not treated as equal because of their skin color. The point is, there are women who are terrified to speak up for themselves because they now get told that they have no room to speak. The point is, there are people who are uncomfortable in their own skin, but finally reached a point of acceptance with themselves to then be told that they will be undergoing shock therapy in the future to make them "straight". These are people we have seen at least once on a daily basis, and never once thought anything of it until this election.

Now, we have a nation that cannot even come together to protect one another. We are not anywhere close to being the nation we once were. How are we suppose to grow as a nation if we cannot even so much as move past stereotypes? It is not just the new President of the United States, but perhaps the people of the United States.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
