We were both there,

Still.

The serenity of the warm summer night

Surrounding us,

The only light was that of the millions of stars

Over the highest point in all of Ohio county,

In the place where I first discovered Nature’s exquisiteness,

My eyes would open to a new beauty

Stronger than any of the demons I would come to face


Depression,

A new foe that had clawed its way up from Hell,

A parasite devouring every feeling of self worth,

It’s greed for taking away everything in my life

A constant batter that was never won entirely,

The venom flowing through my veins

Poisoning me, slowly taking away my vitality


But you were there,

Never letting go completely,

Almost lost,

Under that midnight sky

you muttered the words

Believe in me,

Because I believe in you.

To the one who made me feel love for the first time,

Thank you for saving me.
