I went through my senior year running from every possibility of romance. "Slap me if I even talk about a boy this year, okay?" I'd ask my best friend. Why would I want to start something when I'm just going to move hours away? What would be the point of that? Well, now I understand the point. The best things happen when we don't try. And while long distance is extremely difficult, there are some perks that make that empty void a little more reasonable.
1. No obligation to hang out every. single. day.
Of course, that seems ideal when you're hours apart but in practicality, we both have our own commitments. The last thing we need is feeling guilty for just wanting some alone time.
2. Living our own lives.
We both get opportunities to live unique lives, doing completely different activities all of the time. It gives us more to show and tell each other when we finally are together.
3. Then, getting to talk about our own lives on FaceTime.
The conversation never gets boring. There are hours upon hours to talk about.
4. That part of life is handled.
No getting distracted by the cute guy in class. Your grades are thanking you.
5. Not being that disgusting couple in the dining hall.
Now we're sickened by all of the people in love on the same campus.
6. When we aren't getting along, we are getting the space we need.
It helps to get over things much quicker when it's so easy to turn off a phone. Not to mention, really prevents those crazy emotional meltdowns that make things worse!
7. Every day we get to spend together is the new best day ever.
Distance makes the heart grow fonder...
