I firmly believe that while all people are on Earth for a specific purpose, some have been born to change the world.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 13 on the way home after performing in the Bands of America Grand National Finals, the Rinehart family was involved in a fatal accident that took the lives of Sophie, her father and her grandmother. Sophie’s sister was injured in the crash. Sophie Rinehart was a sister, a daughter, a loyal friend, a talented performer, a beautiful soul and so much more. She was an incredible girl who was born to change the world. Through her presence on this Earth, she brought light to so many lives.
Sophie was the featured vocalist in the Castle High School Marching Knights’ 2016 production. Just hours before the crash, Sophie enchanted audiences with her beautiful voice as she performed Gravity by Sara Bareilles. Just the day before, in an interview, Sophie expressed her love for singing and performing as she discussed that her first thought is, “how can connect with them? What can I do to reach them?” Sophie also stated that she feels that everyone should have music in their lives and she says, “it can change people’s lives in a lot of good ways.”
This is an excerpt from the poem "Changing the World" by Frederick J.B. Moore II.
To change the world
you don’t have to be perfect
all you need is an idea
worth sharing and worth following
To change the world
your heart has to be into it
you can’t half step what you do
or everything will fall apart
Sophie, I hope you’re resting easy knowing that you made the world a better place. I hope you know that since you have passed, not only has your band come together, your high school, your community. But also, bands and communities across the nation have come together to show solidarity in honor of you. It would’ve made your heart so happy. I know that you are so dearly loved and so missed. I hope you’re happy in Heaven.
Today, we are all Castle.
