Recruitment, it's scary and exciting all rolled into one. From Round One to Bid Day it's truly a wild ride. Here are just a few of my favorite parts of recruitment.
1. Round one
Round one was by far one of the most nerve racking things that I have done in a very long time. Meeting so many new people in the span of two hours sounded like absolute terror for the anxious girl that I am. At the end of the night I felt so welcomed by every girl that I had encountered. From the smiling (that made all of our faces hurt by the end) to the songs, everyone made us feel super welcome and listened to.
2. Preference Night
At this point you've made a pretty good assessment of where you want to call home and it's time to get all dressed up and have some fun. From the beautiful decorations to more in depth conversations it was a night to remember.
3. Rho Gammas
They do so much to help you find the best place for yourself. They're always there if you have questions and put all biases towards their own sorority away in order to help you make your own decisions. On top of that they separate from their family and home for months in order to help you find yours and that is a truly special thing.
3. Bid Day
After waiting the half hour to see if someone will knock on your door you make the walk to the building filled with girls all waiting to hear where they'll be calling home for basically forever. After receiving your bid and probably crying tears of happiness you get to go sit in a room and wait for your new sisters while dancing on tables and blaring music.
4. Running Home
I cannot describe the joyous feeling of being tackled by a huge group of girls as you announce where you're going. Nothing has ever made me feel more happy and comfortable in my life.
5. After Party
After the whole process of announcing where you're going, you get to go have a huge party with your new sisters. In my case I got to meet some alumni and truly see how this is going to be my home for the rest of my life.
6. Hanging Out
Since joining last weekend I have gotten to spend some time with my sisters and get to know them a little better. It's nice to always have someone to sit with if you go to lunch, go get coffee with or watch the "Big Brother" finale.
All around, Greek life has been amazing so far and I can't wait to get involved and get to know all of my sisters. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made.
