16 Important Life Lessons From Taylor Swift

Life is hard. We all know that.

We have all dealt with some unfortunate events, relationships and acquaintances. But sometimes you have to say "f*** it" and be happy. Be sassy and be yourself.

Taylor Swift has evolved in the public eye, and everything we see as personal is public to her for everyone to love or pick apart. She's criticized for writing love songs about her past relationships, but in reality, people are just threatened by her openness.

She embraces it and will not be deemed a victim, and most important, she does what she loves. So here are some simple life lessons Taylor Swift has taught me.

1. With success comes judgment.

There will be an army ready to pick you apart and criticize you for every mistake or action they deem as wrong. But life isn't black and white, so what do they know?

Be a lady and tell them to suck it.

2. That army will think they are RIGHT!

No matter how much you argue or how much proof you give them, they will still dislike you. They will still stand there ground even if they look completely foolish. Stand your ground and let them think what they please.

3. Don't be that person.

Just because some women will do it to you does not mean you need to support it. People judge others based on their insecurities and that ultimately hinders them. Don't make others feel worse about themselves. EMPOWER THEM.

4. Life will definitely not go as planned.

You will get embarrassed and hurt. You might have a 10-year plan, but that doesn't mean life will go that way.

It will leave you confused...

5. But I am FABULOUS!

Recover and keep going. You only lose if you give up, so throw on some red lipstick and conquer the world.

Sometimes things will surprise you, and you'll handle it with style and grace!

6. I am also HILARIOUS!

Some may disagree, but I think I am. I make myself laugh every day, and in the end, who cares? Life is so much better with a sense of humor!

7. Be confident

You are who you are and you can't change that, so dwelling on what could have been is pointless. Embrace you.

and don't be afraid of being sassy.

8. Love is insane

It is joy, anger, confusion, and so much more all wrapped up in one package.

Sometimes you will encounter some crappy relationships that will break your heart.

9. Don't be afraid of revenge.

People will call you psychotic and many other things, but if you felt hurt and that's how you deal with it, then do not be ashamed.

Don't be a doormat for fear of what others might say.

10. But love is beautiful.

Although it can be crazy, it is worth it. It will bring a rare kind of joy and love into your life that you will not find anywhere else. Being afraid of falling in love shouldn't dominate your life.

11. Don't take yourself too seriously.

Don't let an ego prevent you from laughing at yourself sometimes.

Flaws are what make us quirky and unique in our own way. The people who are empowered by those differences are often the most successful.

12. Give back.

Taylor Swift has been given the title of Most Charitable Celebrity, and she has truly earned it.

Give back no matter how famous or rich you become. You never know whose life you could be brightening by the simplest task.

Taylor Swift sings to a young boy who has cancer and his excitement will put a smile on your face.

13. Be quirky.

Love it.

Embrace it.

And let it shine.

14. Love your friends.

They will be there for you and hold you up when you need it the most.

And they are pretty Fabulous themselves.

15. Be happy and dance it out.

Even if you think you can't dance, do it.

If it feels right, do it.

If it makes you happy, do it.

And always do it with some sass.

16. Sometimes bad is good.

Sometimes, following the road less traveled will lead you to a happier life.

Because in the end ...

"No matter what happens in life, be good to people. Being good to people is a wonderful legacy to leave behind." –Taylor Swift

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
