Some Important Life Lessons "Sex and the City" Taught Me

Throughout the years, Carrie Bradshaw and her friends have inspired me in many ways. The real life issues that these characters face are so relatable to modern day women. Having a passion for fashion and writing has made me feel a sense of connection to Carrie. "Sex and the City" has taught me some valuable life lessons.

1. Never downplay your accomplishments for others.

You worked so hard for your success, and you deserve it. So enjoy it.

2. For reasons unknown to you, people will be mean.

People will dislike you for the smallest reasons, don't be afraid to stick up for yourself.

3. Overspending has consequences.

We all love to buy things and sometimes we get a weird rush from it. But beware of losing sight of your priorities and spending that pay check on gorgeous shoes.

4. Breakups hurt.

Most of us have experienced either one, or in my case, multiple horrible breakups. The ones that leave you feeling empty and shattered. Sometimes love is not as easy as we want it to be.

5. Learn when it is time to cut ties.

Whether it is an ex or just a toxic friend, we have to learn to walk away. You do not have to be mean about it, but you do need to realize when someone just isn't a good addition to your life. If they make you feel bad more than good, then it might be time to say bye bye.

6. Friends sometimes don't provide much help.

Everyone has their own problems and issues that they have to figure out. Most of the time your friends are just as lost and confused about them as you are. Although friends often provide good advice, they aren't anymore knowledgeable than you. Sometimes you just have to trust your gut, even if they disagree.

7. But best friends will always be there.

Find those people that will support you and help you improve. They won't always be nice but they will always respect you. Those are the friends that will last a lifetime.

8. Don't dwell on the past.

Things happen. Mistakes will be made. Don't say no because of fear to fail because those will be the regrets you keep. Enjoy life and do not let the "what if" thoughts stop you from opportunities.

9. Experiment with clothes.

Fashion is suppose to be a form of expression, there are rules about fit but it revolves around what looks great on you. Wear what makes you feel fabulous.

10. Love yourself.

As cliche as it is, be happy with yourself and never stop working toward your dreams. Never settle because then you won't enjoy life for all its surprises.

    Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

    1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

    2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

    3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

    Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
