“Some days, I can conquer the world, other days, it takes me three hours to convince myself to shower.” – Avian King.
Trust me, we all have those days where we are, “on fleek, on point or blessed up.” But, we also have those days where we are, “aren’t slaying, our eyeliner is off or we forget to pray to be blessed.” There will be moments where we have everything under control and other moments where we lose it a little bit and forget how to keep it all together. The most important thing to remember is that, it is okay. It is okay to not always be everything you are supposed to be. It is okay to lay in your bed all day watching Law & Order or watching Grey’s Anatomy on repeat on Netflix. It is okay that one day you have all your homework finished three days before the due date and the next be sitting in class listening to the teacher explain their expectations for a project due the night before, which you forgot about.
Have you ever heard someone ever say, “It is all about balance?” I certainly have, but mainly because I follow fitness accounts that uses, “It is all about balance,” as their mantra or motto or whatever they use to give us the impression that they are always in control of their lives and that they can handle everything life has thrown at them. It is not true. When balance comes into play, it only means that even if you have had a bad day or a couple weeks of bad days, you can always get back on track by pushing yourself to do better and to be better. To start where you left off.
“When a girl is working out and she puts her hair into an obscene pineapple at the top of her head, you know it is about to go down.” –Anon.
Most days this is most girls, being ambitious and going after what they want whether it be in the gym, the library or just doing something they love to do. These are the moments where we should push ourselves and better ourselves in our bodies, studies and passions. Luckily, some of our passions come together in our studies and our bodies. When you see someone going after what they, do not stop them or even try to stop them. Let them be and let yourself do the job and get the work done. These are the days where you eat intuitively, get up early, attack the day and go to sleep with a smile on your face.
“Work. Pray. Slay.” – Anon.
Most days this is most girls, other days we just do NOT want to work, pray or slay. We just want to sit on the couch eating a bag of potato chips or anything someone puts in front of us. It is that simple. It is about the balance and having those days where the only time you move is from one side of your bed to the couch carrying your laptop. This is okay and even healthy to have ways to recharge before going back to that obscene pineapple shaped bun going after our passions.
