Today as we mourn and grieve the lives lost in Paris, let us not forget the hundreds of lives affected in other parts of the world.
Today the media refuses to shed light or mourn any other event or issue, besides the attacks in Paris. Thousands have shown their solidarity with the nation by changing their Facebook profiles to include a filter with the flag of France.
Today thousands of victims of the deadliest war in our century, Terror, are forgotten. These students, these people, these human beings, could have easily been any of us. These tragic attacks could have happened to anyone in the world, but why are we choosing to shed a beam of light to a Paris when we should be giving a help to all the people affected throughout the world by terrorist attacks, natural disasters, bombings and mass destruction.
Yes, we should pray and aid Paris during this tragedy, but we must also pray, aid, and assist the rest of the world. We must not forget or only focus our attention on one issue, area or country. We as human beings need to stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters suffering throughout the world. We must not forget African countries, Latin American countries, Asian countries, or Third World countries. We must not forget Beirut, who suffered from ISIS suicide bombings. Or Japan who suffered a massive earthquake. We can’t possibly forget about Mexico who suffered from both an earthquake and a hurricane. We need to recognize all the countless tragedies happening in the world.
During this difficult time, we need to unite. We need to look past color, race, religion. We need to look past all of our physical differences in order to carry on forward, in order to change our world for the better.
On Friday, November 13th, 2015 in the time span of 24 hours as a human race we lost over 115,200 lives.
I stand in solidarity with every man, woman, and child who has fallen victim to the seemingly endless War on Terror--not just Paris.
