On November 5th, Solange was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. The stage setup was simplistic with everyone in all white. I appreciated the placement of the backup singers more to the side than in the background. For her performance of “Cranes in the Sky” she wore an all-white two piece with an additional sparkling cover up and head attachment that reminded me of Diana Ross or Lena Horne from the Wiz. With the addition of her voice and the music accompaniment, it was all very ethereal. She closed out the performance with the signature high note of the song and left me ready for her second performance.

For her performance of “Don’t Touch My Hair”, she brought out Sampha. I absolutely love his voice on this track. Their voices complement each other really well during the chorus. The second performance included more dancing from Solange as well as the band and singers. I loved how they were just as into the dancing as she was. Solange did a good job on her debut and I hope to see her again on SNL. Her performance left me super excited for next week’s show which will be hosted by Dave Chappell with musical guest A Tribe Called Quest.

I thought senioritis in high school was rough until I became a college senior about to go into the real world. I'm supposed to have everything figured out, right? College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
