Currently, I am reading a book by Beth Moore called Believing Godand there is a part of the book that asks the question in Matthew 16:15, "Who do you say that I am?"
Our view of who we say God is can be easily influenced by social media, friendships, family, how we were raised, how our pastor preached if you went to church growing up, and other factors that can all affect our view of God. This has made me think of how I would respond the question of "Who do you say that I am?"
In Matthew 16:15-20, Paul answers the question how every believer and follower of Christ should respond, but would you respond in the same way? Reading the verses of scripture, it seems obvious to what the answer should be and yet there is the question of if you were asked by Jesus, who do you say that I am, would your answer reflect Paul's or would it be the complete opposite of his answer?
In Isaiah 41:10 it says, So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. This is one of many scriptures in the bible that expose God's character and reveals who he is.
God's character has not wavered over the years and God continuously stays faithful to us, even if we are not always faithful to him in return. So from the time of Paul to today, the question is how much influence does society have over your view of God and who we say that he is.
