Social Workers: Society's Superheros
Lori Driver

Social workers are immensely under credited in today's day and age. It's not an easy job, and still people very rarely give them the credit they need. I want for whoever to read this, to feel a sense of gratitude for social workers around the world.

It not easy being a social worker, like I said. In my opinion, as a student still in college, it takes a special kind of person to do this job. It takes someone who had a special kind of heart and love for people to do this job. When I was in high school, I knew I wanted to help people; i just didn't know how to. My heart was never going to be satisfied if i would stayed in biology. However, I felt the strings of my heart being tugged, and it was to become a SWK major. I knew it wasn't going to be easy, however I knew that it was my calling. Only a few people can truly tell you why they are SWK majors, but it's usually not someones first pick. It takes a special person to be a SW major.

Social workers are the balancing act for society ethics. Social workers are constantly having to help decide what it is ethically right and just. It can be straining to be fighting for what is right, when everyone may be against you. They are constantly trying to help direct and guide society. Without social workers the world would be even more of a hot mess than it is now.

Finally, there are so many misconceptions that we are the bad guys. I mean when people think of a social worker coming into a house, they automatically assume the worse. However, we are trying to bring a sense of unity and help to those who need it. Or when people think that social workers are just going along with the system, not always. There are social workers who are constantly trying to get people back on their feet after rough times. We are the bad guys, we are just the good people trying to make a difference.

Social workers are society's superheros, lets start treating them with some more credit.

5 Untold Struggles Of The Short Friend

I'm the Short Friend. I've been the Short Friend since about the seventh grade. I'm the one who stands in the front of the photos, gets made fun of for their height, and still shops in the kids department.

This article is not for the Almost Short Friends, i.e. the 5'3" and 5'4" Friends. No no, this is for the Actually Short Friends, i.e. the Barely Scraping 5'1" and shorter Short Friends.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
