Arguably, students over the summer are split into three types of categories. The first is the envy of everyone. We all know those people. The ones who go on exotic vacations left and right, and seem to rub them in everyone else's faces. In fact, this type of person is by no means 'rare,' making the envy even worse.
Another type of student over the summer is the polar opposite, always complaining how bored they are and asking if anyone wants to hang out with them.
Then, there are people in the middle. Whether they are annoying for half the summer and envied the other is entirely up to them. For some people, it is very difficult to know if your social media is giving away how boring your summer is. So, I have devised a few tips to make sure you can avoid revealing how dull some of your summer days are if you're into that sort of thing.
First and foremost, stop posting that you're bored. This is obviously the most dead-giveaway that you are, indeed, bored. These type of posts are not always the straightforward "I'm bored" Snapchat story that absolutely no one wants to see, but also posts including asking if anyone wants to hang out. As previously stated, this is definitely something to avoid. Not only is it not an interesting post and gives away that you have no plans, but you are almost guaranteed to have no results. If you want to hang out with someone, try messaging people individually.
For a little-less obvious approach, your posts can "lie by implying." This simply means making a post that makes it seem like you're doing something more fun than you actually might be. Now, I am not suggesting actually lying. These type of posts can be similar to the "Hobby Lobby Challenge" and taking pictures by a creek or pond that appear more like a lake or beach.
Another important thing to remember is that if you are at home or at your job all the time, you might want to avoid posting there every day. After a very short time, it can be assumed exactly how you spent your summer. And even though this is true, most social media users would never like to admit that that is all they do.
But above all, it is important to actually enjoy your summer and not just make it so everyone else is envious of it.
Even though that is something many of us want deep down, it is not the most important. As long as you are enjoying your summer and making every moment count, your posts will hopefully be able to carry along that sunshine with you. And what better post can you get than that?
