I stepped into one of my classes this new semester and the professor passed out the typed syllabus and policy statement for his class like most professors do, but this specific one was different. This one syllabus had the heading "Social Justice: What's Fair and Who Gets to Decide". The professor said that this was his "theme" for this semester. This really got me thinking what really is fair and who gets to decide this. Just like the courses I take, who says I have to take them all and have a certain amount of credit hours before I can successfully graduate? If it were up to me, I would just want to do the minimum of what is necessary and be done with school. Yeah, I know most students like myself are of the opinion that some of the classes are not in line with our future career and deem some to be unnecessary. Nowadays, we have controversial issues like abortion rights, LBGTQ+ rights, and inequality among races.
Why do we make decisions that cause violence when as a society, we supposedly all want peace (how ironic of us). There is the "Black Lives Matter" movement, but surprisingly you see on the street a black guy killing another black man darker than him all in the name of gang violence. How do we expect another race to show respect when we have a different skin color from them when we don't show love and respect to one another? Because of this, maybe most people don't believe in positive change because they believe everything happens for a reason. That is why my generation all thinks about how can we make the world better for ourselves. Some might call us selfish, but seeing people who made an attempt to make a positive impact and how they get burned can be discouraging. All we want to do is get good grades, start a company and have your name on the Forbes list of one of the richest people alive. To my generation, that is the definition of success. Also, who says that it is wrong you don't get to decide what I want to do with my life because only I can? Or should I stand trial in a social justice court room and let society decide for me?
Such a funny way to live when people never see the good in what you because they always are in search for the negative. Some might use their religion to support their claim like why abortion should not be considered. They support this claim by saying their religion is opposed to it also is religion not opposed to adultery and fornication because society as tried it in their court room and find it convenient for them so it not such a big issue for them like the abortion right or gay right and discrimination against race or ethnicity when people believe a race or group of people are superior to another. . sorry if i don't share your sentiment. See you all at Trial.
