Yes, You Can Still Be Social & Practice Social Distancing

Just because we're on lockdown, doesn't mean that the world is coming to an end

Yes, You Can Still Be Social & Practice Social Distancing

Not only is the pandemic making everyone wash their hands and be super cautious of every cough and sneeze, many events are cancelled along with regular closings as the entire world is encouraged to practice social distancing as this contagious disease is monitored.

As much as it sucks to be away from practically everyone, it doesn't have to feel as isolated while being quarantined.

Dr. Murthy explains that loneliness is different from solitude. Loneliness is subjective, saying that you're in a drought with the amount of social interaction you need — closeness, trust and affection of genuine friends, loved ones and community.

I was just thinking how people sometimes complain and criticize how much "this generation is always on their phone." Beyond the flood of TikTok dances and pushup challenges, it's times like these where you can appreciate cell phones and social media when you're basically at home for half of the day.

Right now, more and more places are being closed where people are cooped up in their homes stocking up on toilet paper and trying to take this one day at a time while switching to working from home or not at all.

As much as it sucks what's going on right now, I'm blessed to call loved ones every day, text friends whenever I want and still manage to stay updated by watching the news.

Being able to communicate with my friends during this time has helped me tremendously.

Everything can be a challenge for everyone: from finding stuff to do to not gaining weight during this time. Just because we're on lockdown doesn't mean that the world is coming to an end.

You'd be surprised how refreshing conversation can be during this time even if it's just five minutes long. It's probably nothing different from your usual routine, it just takes more effort.

Be honest, what else do you have to do?

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
