So You Graduated College...

You either just graduated college or about to graduate college and I am sure you're feeling about a million different emotions currently. Excited, sad, happy, sentimental, scared etc. Graduating college is such a huge accomplishment and milestone, but there is also such a weird feeling that comes with it. The daunting now what? Even if you know what you're doing there is a huge change that comes with leaving college.

"You get a strange feeling when you're about to leave a place, like you'll not only miss the people you love but you'll miss the person you are now at this time and this place, because you'll never be this way ever again." -Azar Nafisi.

Maybe you're moving or a lot of your friends are moving. You will not have school and greek life as an excuse to see people. Now everything is more about planning and choosing to see people instead of naturally seeing all your friends everyday. If you're in greek life you start to get removed from Groupmes and Facebook pages because now you're alumnae (I know that sounds dumb to be sad about, but it is weird feeling not getting a million notifications anymore). The thought of having so much free time is both exciting and nerve wracking.

My advice to all these emotions? Enjoy it. Do not dwell as if nothing good will happen again. You will still see the people who are important and make time to stay friends. That is how you will really know who your true friends are. Look at how much you have accomplished and achieved. Think of all the amazing memories you made in college and friends you made. Celebrate your accomplishments. If you did not make the best memories in college or are afraid that you will not make any better memories after this. Stop. Remember the best is yet to come.

"There are far better things ahead, than any we leave behind" -C.S. Lewis

The future can be scary. That is expected, it is the unknown. None of us knows what is going to happen, but that is half the fun. Whether you're going to grad school, a job, traveling or not quite sure what your next step is, take every moment and make the most of it. Life is too short to be looking back or dipping your foot into the pool. Jump in! Take risks. Meet new people keep in touch with your college buddies.

Once again the best is yet to come. Do not forget that.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
