Why All This Snow Still Didn't Live Up To The Hype

The Snowmageddon of 2017 was a bust, but for mid-March it was a odd surprise.

Well, that was disappointing. Snowmageddon 2017 was nothing more than a normal snow storm. It was predicted that we would be getting close to two feet of snow and Collegeville ended up maybe getting 6 inches, and that might be generous. However, other parts of the state were hammered with the intended three feet. Lucky them, I guess. The meterorologosits were a bit off this time.

The whole northeast was prepped for the worst storm threat in years, and it was a bust. Businesses closed, schools prepped for days off, and everything seemed to come to a standstill. People flocked to the grocery store for milk, bread, and eggs for no reason. But the good news is that most college students got a snow day. I was one of the lucky ones. I had all my classes canceled for the day, which was great for me.

It really is funny how snow is still crippling to the world. The earth has been around for millions and millions of years and we still have not yet figured out how to handle snow. We as a species seem to stop in our tracks when it comes to snow and it still baffling to me. We have made great strides include the shovel, the snow plow, and we even figured out that salting the roads would help. But we still can’t figure out how to stop it from crippling out way of life.

We now have self-driving cars, we have put a man on the moon and yet we can’t figure out nature. In the past, I know there has been experiments in order to figure out how to manipulate nature, specifically with tornados and hurricanes in order to change their trajectory. But, I have never heard of any experiments dealing with snow before.

We are always fixing roads and I know they have proposed putting heat strips in the roads. This holds a two-fold purpose. The first being that it produces energy in order to power things. The other purpose is to head the roads and melt snow during the winter. This would save so much money on costs of salting and plowing and not to mention of the cost of labor. However the price of the infrastructure would be astronomical, billions upon billions of dollars. There simply is no budget for that. Though, it would be interesting to see if they could do that in the future. There is no telling how much energy it could produce and would it do for society, but that will come once we have flying cars, I guess.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
