Winter, what beautiful time. You can cuddle under blankets, drink endless amounts of hot beverages, and wear amazing sweaters. It is perfect! Unless you're a person who comes from warm weathered place, snow is the equivalent to hell. I am from lovely Southern California and have been going to school in Montana for three years now and have still not adjusted to the weather. To me (and probably a few other out-of-staters) anything below 75 degrees is COLD! If you’re originally from a warm state and go to school where it snows, then you know what I’m talking about. Here are some initial and ending thoughts warmblooded students have about the snow.
1. So Pretty
Snow glistens in the sunlight and it is like a sea of crystals. It is captivating and so shiny. The prettiest is when it hasn’t been touched or walked in. It is almost calming.
2. I could give this a try
The morning air is crisp and seeing snow fall from the sky for the first time makes you feel like everyday could be Christmas. It’s always good to try something new, snow cant be that bad.
3. I’m not sure how to feel about this anymore…
So it turns out wind chill is a thing and the temperature can drop below 0 degrees. But sledding and throwing snow at friends is fun. It will be okay, Momma didn't raise a sissy!
4. Snow, you got to go!
There is ice everywhere and it doesn't melt easily either. Walking to classes is one big game of “Let’s not die and break our face or butt”. Prayers before walking across campus are pretty ideal.
5. I’m OUT.
Peace everyone and freezing hell. The straw that broke the camel’s back was being in the back seat of your friend’s car when it fishtailed because it hit a patch of ice. You grabbed onto whatever you could and felt your heart jump out of your chest while your friend kept driving and acted as if you weren’t close to dying. A car can slip on ice, your body can slip on ice. NO ONE is safe.
6. The countdown
Until the snow melts for good, the countdown until you can be back in your warm sunshine state begins. For now, you have to put up with the nonsense weather and bundle up to the point where you're waddling like a penguin. Turns out you're not like Elsa, the cold seems to bother you everyday.
