Just a couple of days ago, I experienced my first snowfall and tasted my first snowflake. It was surreal to wake up to my roommate yelling in excitement, "It's snowing!" Living in California all of my life and seeing snow actually fall from the sky is a crazy feeling. I was inspired to write a poem about this feeling. It's funny how little things that might be part of someone's every day can be perceived so differently by someone else. It may be snow to that person, but to me it's SNOW.
Crystal white jewels I want to keep hidden forever,
fall one by one from above.
I catch the flakes on my tongue,
and some escape into my glove.
The flurries dance with delight,
and the icicles stick with all of their might.
"It's just snow," the people say.
But for me, it's a whole new day.
