So as many of you know or have seen through Snapchat, we Highlanders are "blessed" with snow days. We can wake up one morning with a blanket of cold snow covering our beautiful campus and the surrounding streets and sidewalks sheeted with ices. Does this guarantee us a day off? Um, no.
As people that go to school in the mountains, we are expected to be used to snow and actually think of packing decent winter clothes. Randomly, the most relatable person I can think of in reference to snow days is Squidward. He is grumpy yet realistic like most college students who have actually become used to the routine of snow days at Radford.
Here's an idea of the routine of the day as told by Squidward:
When the forecast says there will be a few inches of snow coming this week but it's clear and sunny outside
When All the other colleges in Virginia are starting delays and you have to watch your friends at other schools plan their day off.
Waiting to get a delay for the one class you hate
VS When you actually have class canceled
When Your Professor Goes Ahead And Just Gives You The Classwork For The Class you're missing
When you realize you're probably going to be put behind in the class
When you go outside to brave the one class that wasn't canceled
When everyone is slipping on the ice and falling into you
Watching students play with their dog outside in the snow when your pet is at home and you have to go to class
When snow accidentally gets into your shoes
When you feel like you braved the snow for the most pointless class
Realizing this is probably one of the few times you'll get a class canceled because of snow
Overall, snow is always an interesting aspect of a day at Radford. Although it can be beautiful, it can be pain in the butt to have in the day. From the walk to class and surviving the cold, one can feel like grumpy old Squidward.
