Snow Days As Told By Full House

Because eventually, this stuff gets boring.

Whenever there is a threat of a snow storm, I always get really excited - especially if it means school/work is going to be canceled. Inevitably during a particularly big snow storm, the excitement fades pretty fast. I mean, it all starts out as fun but eventually it gets old.
If you are anywhere on the Mid-Atlantic to South East Coast, you are in recovery mode from the first big snow storm of the winter. Around here (central Virginia), we got about 8 inches, which means it wasn't just one snow day - more like 3ish. And if you are anything like me, your thoughts on the snow days went a little something like this:

Week before

OMG they're calling for snow! School/work/responsibilities are gonna be canceled! Bring. It. On.

Two Days Before

Better go to the grocery store to get essentials.

Then you see the bread and milk sections... do people really just eat slices of bread and wash it down with a glass of milk? Why are these two things snow essentials?

Day Before

They said how many inches of snow?

Did I get enough snacks? I could be stuck in my house anywhere from 1 to 14 days so I just need to be prepared.

Okay. Got the snacks, got the books/movies/tv shows to keep me entertained for days. I'm officially ready.

Day Of

10am: This is gonna be good. Nowhere to be, nothing I have to do... Just gonna stay in my pj's, eat food, and not leave this couch.

12pm: Oh right, I have so many snacks to eat!

12:30pm: I'm gonna watch a movie/binge Netflix. This is literally the definition of Netflix and Chill.

2pm: Looks like the snow has stopped - time to build a snowman.

3pm: It's really, really cold outside. Maybe I'll go back in and do a craft instead.

5pm: My siblings and I are getting along great. This is good and we're actually having fun. Gosh, why don't we hang out more?

9pm: Oh yeah...this is why we don't hang out more.

Day Two

What do you mean, they still haven't plowed my neighborhood's roads? I don't know if I can handle a whole other day of this.

Yep. My sibling is already getting on my nerves and it's not even lunch yet. Lord, please send the snow plows! This is not a drill.

Must do something else. I cannot sit and watch TV any longer. Maybe if I exercise the time will go by faster?

Nope. That didn't work. I have no one else to talk to. What else is wrong with me? Let the irrational thinking begin...

I really, really need to see someone outside of my family.

Day Three

Trying to convince myself that I can handle just one more day of being stuck at home.

Mom finally says, "I think the roads are clear. Anyone want to go out to get lunch or something?"

That moment when you see people outside of your family.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

winter

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
