So of course, even at college, there are snow days.
Seems pretty good, right?
Wrong.
I have missed my past two lab periods due to inclement weather, which has, in turn, caused me to miss out on two of the hardest labs of the semester. To some, this may seem like a good thing. It means you don't have to do work. But in reality, I am missing out on classes I put my own hard earned money into.
I was never going to walk out in a snowstorm to mix chemicals around in a beaker, but I still feel as though I'm missing out on a concept that is important to me. I think that even though the weather has been very unexpected, the school needs to take the precedent to make sure that students are able to understand the concepts they are going to be tested on come finals week.
It is something I know many people would probably look at with judgment, considering many students who are currently trapped in Holly Pointe Commons seem excited to spend the day sleeping and doing nothing. Finals week is something that remains in the far distance.
Okay, I'm really just calling out myself.
Also, I find that with snow days. I literally get nothing done. Instead, I sleep in hours after I'm supposed to, and then I just spend hours goofing off instead of doing anything productive.
Though my weekdays are busy, I am still able to find a level of productivity that allows me to get all my work done. But I find that on snow days, I am constantly thinking about the fact that I have a bunch of extra time. So then it will be 7 P.M. and I would have done literally nothing I was supposed to do.
Now, I know that in the future, even if I wake up to my alarm and a text message from Rowan University saying that classes are canceled, I need to actually get up and get work done. Because if I continue to do this, then my snow days go from an opportunity to get caught up once more to a day where I do literally nothing and waste all my time.
