10 Ways To Avoid Cabin Fever The Next Time You're Snowed In

In This Article:

Picture this: Walmart is overrun with people, the roads are icy, snow is piling higher and higher outside and...you're snowed in. Don't let laziness and boredom overtake you this winter. Here's some ideas to shake off the gloom of a snow day and stay happy and active indoors.

Workout/yoga

The internet is filled with quick and easy indoor workout ideas, no weights/equipment required! If that's not your scene, relax with some 30-minute yoga to refresh your mind and melt away the gloom of the day.

Have a Marvel movie marathon

If you're a big nerd like me, being snowed in is the perfect opportunity to start a Marvel movie marathon! Grab some popcorn, put on your comfy clothes and stare at Robert Downey Jr. all day.... yes, please! If Marvel isn't your thing, any movie series marathon will do.

Mini spa day

Take some time to rejuvenate and chill by pampering yourself on a snow day. Take a long bubble bath with candles, use that new face mask you just bought, paint your nails. Treat yourself!

Be a bookworm for a day

Make yourself some tea/coffee and sit down with a good book. If that's not your mood, try journaling or creative writing. A simple Google search can give you ideas for your next short story or poem.

Get artsy

Color, draw, paint, and knit! Adult coloring books are the best for creative stimulation on a snowy day. You can easily pass the hours getting artsy.

Board game night

Break out your old game of Monopoly and get some friendly competition going! Card games, board games, puzzles anything will do. Have impromptu poker tournaments or play Cards Against Humanity. Booze is optional.

Wine & cheese night

Ok, now we're talking about booze! Be classy and get your roomies/friends together for a wine and cheese night. Watch that rom-com while sipping on a glass of pinot...cheers!

Get your bake on

Whip out the oven mitts and get cracking on some recipes! Even if you're not a professional baker, some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies sound like the best way to spend a snow day. Yum!

Clean/reorganize

Now I know this isn't the most thing to do, but when you're snowed in, what better time to be productive and feel accomplished after a couple hours of work? Clean out your closet, drawers, tidy up your house and finally clean that bathroom... you'll feel so much better after, I promise!

 Build a fort

When's the last time you built a fort? Grab those pillows, chairs, and blankets and make a cozy hideaway your 6-year-old self would be jealous of! Snuggle up in your fort and catch some Zzzz's or do anything other activity of your choice. A fort will just make it 100x better.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
