I don't know about you, but snorkeling is absolutely amazing and terrifying at the same time. I am a good swimmer. In fact, I am a great swimmer. I used to swim on summer swim team and then a little bit in high school as well. However, deep water is honestly one of the more terrifying things in life for me. Here are a couple things that go through my mind whenever I am snorkeling.
1. Why is the water so cold?
There are definitely parts of the ocean that are warm, but it never seems like its warm whenever I'm snorkeling. You really have to keep moving in order to stay warm.
2. How deep is the water?
Again, whenever I am in deep water I can't help but think there might be something down there that will hurt me. Whenever I reach 30 to 40 feet, I get kind of scared, so I start to swim a bit faster.
3. Wait, did I just see Nemo?
Nemo! There are so many fish in the sea that sometimes I honestly think I see some of the fish in Finding Nemo. The fish are glowing with all of their beautiful colors. It is worth staying in one spot sometimes to see all of the beautiful fish.
4. What is nibbling on my toe?
Honestly, you can see what is in front of you and what is below you pretty well. However, have you ever considered what is following you? Sometimes the fish end up coming super close to my feet, and it scares me! I never can be sure what it is.
5. Am I going to be shark bait?
I think this is a thought we all have. We have all seen the movie Jaws, so this is going to be one of our worst nightmares. Make sure you are in a safe area and are with other people!
6. Am I going to make it out alive?
There are so many things racing through my mind whenever I'm in the ocean. One of them is definitely if I'm going to make it out of the water in time. We all know that if you're wearing a life vest you are probably going to be okay, but you never know! Let's hope that we will be!
7. Who is going to save me if I can't breathe?
Who is going to come get me if something happens? This is when we all start thinking about who we were nice to before we got into the water. Hopefully you brought multiple people who know how to swim and will jump in to save you!
