To Snapchat With Love

We just really want to be able to see other people's best friends again.

Dear Snapchat,

To start I would like to say that I'm really proud that we've been together for longer than four years now. We've really grown together. We started with grainy pictures and minimal designs on that app and now we have seasonal filters and snap stories. What an adventure it's been. There are some things we still need to address, though. For starters, where do these pictures go? I know this has been a question for a long time, but you still have never answered it. There are few people out there who believe these pictures and messages just disappear from the face of the earth, so where are they going? Is there a mural of the most embarrassing and hilarious snaps at the Snapchat headquarters? Obviously not knowing where the picture go has not stopped mine or anyone else's Snapchat use, but it would be nice to know.

The next issue I'd like to discuss is the best friend's list. Although it may have led to some drama, we all miss the days when we could see who everyone's best friends were. Honestly, I'll trade in the filters to be able to see best friends again. I think most of us would. Also, what ever happened to having three best friends? I can have anywhere from three to seven? This is just so confusing and I don't even understand the concept of best friends anymore if I can have so many. We also need to talk about the emojis. If this was some idea to try and make us feel better about not seeing other people's best friends, you were wrong. This just causes me more stress because I can see that I'm not my number one best friend's best friend, but I have zero clue who they are betraying me with. Also being able to see when you are on someone's best friends list, but they're not on yours is kind of twisted. Granted, it does make me feel pretty powerful, but I just want to go back to the honest days of Snapchat when I could obsess over who my crush's best friends were.

Ok, so you knew we were going to have to talk about the filters. First, I would like to thank you because they really do help to make conversations a little more interesting and I enjoy seeing what the different ones are. Also, thanks for getting rid of that whole "paying for filters" thing. None of us were that desperate to have dog ears or look like we were throwing up rainbows. And on that note, are you guys ok? These filters are pretty creative, but also concerning sometimes. I'm not really sure whose idea it was to have a deranged pumpkin eating your sideways face, but I just want to check in on that person and make sure they're good. I'd really like to be a fly on the wall at your meetings when you're designing these because what is too weird? Does anyone ever throw out an idea and everyone else is like "Wow that is TOO weird, better tone it down a little"? Or is it just the weirder the better?

Overall I've really enjoyed the relationship we have. You make it easy for us college kids with a small attention span to have conversations and to make friends. I'm interested to see what you come up with next! (As long as it's not being able to see how many times someone has viewed your story because that would actually be evil).

With lots of love,

A loyal friend and app user

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

16 Secrets Anthropology Majors Never Admit To

You know that all of these things apply to you. You'll just never tell.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
