This Snapchat Update Needs To Happen

Recently, the office I work in just received some serious renovations. As I went to take a video of it for snapchat, all I wanted to do was send it to our seasonal staff that only work here temporarily. Since these are the people that won’t see the renovation until next summer, I wanted them, and only them, to see this change in the office. I ended going through my (admittedly) extra-long list of contacts, and tried to press on the select few names that I wanted. I definitely missed a few names, and then I just ended up adding the video to my story in hopes that the person that I missed will watch my snapstory. But that’s when it hit me.

Snapchat needs to create categories in the ‘contacts’ section. If I could organize my contacts into: ‘work’, ‘college’, ‘high school’, ‘family’, etc., then sending out snaps would be so much faster!

Of course Snapchat has already done their automatic version of this by separating my contacts into ‘best friends’, ‘recents’, and ‘needs love’. But there should be a way for the consumer to choose and create their own categories. Also, who uses the ‘needs love’ section! There is a reason why I am not sending snaps to them, so Snapchat can calm down with that.

Anyways, these customizable categories could be so useful. What if you are a company that wants to send out a promotional snap to certain loyal customers that they have added into their contacts. Or if you are visiting your college as an alumni and want to send out a snap of your time there to only your college friends. Doing this could be so much faster if only these categories were in place.

I feel as though this is not a hard task for Snapchat to create, and would be extremely helpful in the process of sending snaps to certain people at a faster pace.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
