Recently, Snapchat has become a popular app among social media lovers and celebrities. This social media outlet became competitive with other social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram through its updates.

Snapchat began to become more heavily used with the addition of the Live and Discover feeds. Snapchat Live feeds show coverage of prominent events in the news, which the Discover feeds allow users to stay up-to-date with their favorite networks such as ESPN and Cosmopolitan. Also, Snapchat created a Campus Story for college campuses where students can post what is happening that given day on the story.

The most popular addition Snapchat has developed is their filters. Geo filters were the first addition to the Snapchat filter family and consist of filters that can be added onto a snap when in the vicinity of a particular city or part of town. College campuses, beaches and city downtown areas are a few of the places where geo filters can be found while using the Snapchat app.

Snapchat lenses have become the best way to stay up to date with your Snapchat friends without using just your average Snapchat filter. These lenses can be accessed by holding down on a face to recognize it and swiping to apply the various lenses that are available.

Snapchat lenses are not just used to create more playful photos, but when used during a video, can show various actions based off facial movements. With every update, the lenses offered change to offer new ones or repeat favorites. Here are the top five Snapchat lenses that avid Snappers would be lost without.

1. The Dog Lens

This lens is easily one of the most loved Snapchat lenses. Its popularity has given it the reputation for being "basic" because it is heavily used by female Snappers. The Dog lens is characterized by its signature tongue slurping noise and the brown and Dalmatian dog ears and nuzzle.

2. The "Pretty" Lens

This lens is a favorite for girls because it makes you look flawless even when you feel not so photogenic. Simply by putting on this flower crown and making your eyes appear glossier, this filter effortlessly makes you feel like a flower princess.

3. Face Swap Lens

A family favorite, this lens swaps any face, or anything it can identify as a face, and swaps it with another face. This lens is the most humorous for the amount of face swaps that don't go as planned, but seem to end up funnier than intended. This Snapchat lens will swap dollar bill faces, paintings and even noses when attempting to face swap.

4. The Old Lens

The lens is popular mainly because of its frightening accuracy. This Old lens easily adds 40 years to any face. This lens strategically places wrinkles and a monocle to make anyone look like a great grandmother or grandfather.

5. The Pear Face

Of all the face morphing lenses, this one is one of the funniest. This lens at one time actually made your face a pear with a worm crawling out of the top. This is one of the many lenses that morphs your face by stretching and shrinking various parts for a funny effect.

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.
