Snapchat is one of the most interesting social media platforms I use. I have used the app since I was in middle school and have a special attachment to using it as a result. I think it is one of the most interesting forms of communication because of the disappearing nature of the “snaps”. I personally think that the goal of connecting the world through the platform is met in some ways and not met in others. While it helps show others the surroundings they are living in it does not allow people to live in the moment. Snapchat is a major distraction when major life events are going on. For example there is footage of some people recording marriage proposals on Snapchat. This is proof that these people were not living in the moment.
