"The Entire History"' of you is an incredible episode from a Sci-Fi TV Series "Black Mirror." (Its pretty damn good!)
So in this episode, Jessie Armstrong(writer) imagines an alternate reality of people able to save and replay videos of memories on either their eye balls or on a large TV screen. A "grain" implanted behind each person's ear allows the mind-blowing capability.
It's no surprise that "The entire history of you" quickly came to mind after reading about Snapchat's newest product; spectacles; a set of connected sunglasses that records 10 secs of video. According to the WSJ, Evan tested a prototype while on a hiking trip. He describes the experience as unbelievable. 'When I got the footage back and watched it, I could see my own memory, through my own eyes — it was unbelievable, It's one thing to see images of an experience you had, but it's another thing to have an experience of the experience. It was the closest I'd ever come to feeling like I was there again."
Along with the new product, the company has re-branded as Snap, Inc to match its vision of the future, implying that with the new name, users can expect several new products from the company since it will no longer just be a social media app.
Spectacles will release in slow numbers starting this fall, and is priced at $130.
