With the growing diversity and the slow decline of white supremacy patriarchal thinking, the hot button topic has become the impact of diversity which either makes things good or worse. The public is divided. Specifically, the question of American identity seems to be conflicted. The United States is the country of immigrants yet nostalgia for better days keep shimmering into the surface. People want the 'old America' back but what that is most could not agree. Though there are similar sentiments echoed by older citizens who want a better government, less corrupt businesses and overall more freedom and equality. They lament the increasing gap between rich and poor and the slow disappearance of the middle class. But what are the causes and factors of income inequality. It's not just economic. There are a lot of ways people, without intending to, become full of debt. Maybe they didn't know. Maybe access to education is too expensive, not everyone benefits. Then there's the job market which insists on degrees and experience. Add to that the neglect of health and well-being in a culture which doesn't much bring human nature into play and we have a society full of miserable people who couldn't get out of their neglected selves because necessities require spending more than you can earn. Minimum wage isn't even enough to provide everything basic without forcing individuals to work until they drop dead. Adding in traces of racism, sexism and biased and it all becomes even more unfair. However, people are smart. But wisdom takes years and the world won't wait. There's an old saying in Native American folklore about actions and why you should consider them with care as your causes will affect two and more future generations. It's why there's a movement to going green, to returning to nature. There is something deep and refreshing in seeing and touching plants and things alive like us. It's comforting to know that nature will always be here and won't abandon you.
But entrenched policies in place are not conducive to allow experimentation. All rules are done for the benefit of many at their expense. Consider how businesses are one-purpose oriented entities with no moral scruples yet people rely on them like sheep to a shepherd. And because of the adoration of their image cultivated for maximum psychological effect, we are seduced without consent. Thus, freedom now is an illusion, a construction catering to masses who are distracted and rendered mute amidst the confusion continuing to be propagated. Everything we do is killing us in some way. Our lifestyles, the foods we eat, the places we go, the people we encounter. Each and everyone is coping as best they can. But the ways rules are made don't allow for the best of human nature to grow, to be nourished and live carefree, if at all. That would be bad for business. When everyone is smart, responsible and aware, it'll be harder to convince them to buy things they don't need, no matter how prettily dressed the products are. So advertisers point out 'flaws,' get suckers to buy, buy, buy while they sell, sell, sell. And it worked. With everyone so busy looking at what want instead of what they need, capitalism has turned into the very thing it once denigrated communism. We are living under an environment designed to weed out 'flaws' and 'mistakes' like the plague. The reason dull and boring became normal is that regulations had to be systematically efficient. Things are filtered into one end and end with the same attitudes, with limited variations like the toys we sell to ourselves.
