The vegan lifestyle is one that can be difficult to get used to, especially in a society that insists animal products are necessary in order to live a healthy life. By definition, a vegan is someone who does not eat or use any animal products. Although there are many different variations to this lifestyle, all who follow it respect animals and choose not to exploit or mistreat them in any way, shape, or form. That means foods with no dairy, no eggs, no honey and sometimes even no refined sugar (depending on the manufacturer). This, of course, can lead to some difficulty, especially when it comes to snack foods. Somehow, a few snack foods are actually vegan without even trying to be.
Oreos.
That's right: Oreos are vegan. Despite being known for their classic cookies and creme flavor, the cookies actually contain no dairy, eggs, or any other animal products.
Sour Patch Kids.
Even though these candies are chewy and soft like gelatin (which can contain collagen from animals), they are 100 percent animal product free. Swedish Fish fall under the same umbrella, too.
SuperPretzel Soft Pretzels.
This ballpark favorite only contains wheat, water, corn syrup, yeast, salt, and a few other vegan ingredients. While some pretzels are guilty of some minor animal products in their foods, SuperPretzels are in the clear.
Fritos, Lay's, Ruffles, and Doritos varieties.
Be sure to check the ingredients before eating, but many different types of Fritos, Lay's, Ruffles, and Doritos pass the test. Original Fritos, Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos, and Original Lay's are just a few examples.
Famous Amos cookies.
With the exception of the chocolate chip flavor, the vanilla, peanut butter, and oatmeal macaroon-flavored Famous Amos cookies contain no animal products at all.
