A Smashing Review of Smash Burger

This was my first time there, so take my review lightly.

My grandmother and I were decently hungry. We had both eaten a big breakfast, but needed to get dinner so we decided to go to Smash Burger. It had recently been added to a shopping center near my grandmother's neighborhood and we both wanted to try it. This was both our first times at Smash Burger. We decided to get our food to go because it seemed like a good option, which it was. The service was very good. The food was delicious. The experience of being served is to happen another day. I imagine that it would be great, since I saw a very attentive employee bringing food out to a table, while my grandmother and I waited on our food. Now on to the deliciousness that was my meal.

My Meal

I ordered their Classic Smash(TM), French Fries, and a soda.

The only change was to not have pickles on the burger. Even though my one Aunt is famous for her homemade pickles, I still don't like them. Anyone who knows me, or at least the type of food that I like, knows that I am particular about my hamburger buns. I am very pleased with the one's at Smash Burger. I opted to customize mine, but am glad I stuck to the "egg bun". (Smash Burger Menu). It made my burger a burger. What's a burger without toppings? This burger had a special sauce that made the burger even more delicious. Tomatoes found between the top bun and the patty we very yummy. The patty was very delicious and slightly bigger than the buns, but the buns held it together.

I am a French Fry Connoisseur! I absolutely love fries. I like most types, but not particularly in love with Sweet Potatoes. The only way I'll eat those is if there's marshmallows melted on top of them, i.e. only on Thanksgiving. Here at Smash Burger there were different sides, fries, onions, sweet potato fries, etc. I decided to stick to regular fries, since I wanted to see how they made them before getting a different type of fry. I love shoestring fries. They're the kind that a certain food franchise that everyone knows is bad, but still eats. Hint: Their Coke (soda) is quite possibly the best in the entire world, or just in the fast food franchise chains. I'm not going to mention the name, but only make it painfully obvious what fast food place that I'm mentioning. The reasoning behind my mentioning that company is because they are the reason that I love fries. I grew up eating those fries and they're the reasoning behind me being a French Fry Connoisseur. The fries get my stamp of approval. I only ask they they thicken the fries, I wish there was more potato in the fries, but they were still appetizing.

The soda I chose was a classic, but had no caffeine. It tasted like it typically does and it didn't take any room away from the delicious food that I was consuming. I am trying to abstain from sugary drinks after a certain hour, hence why I chose a caffeine free soda. I am trying to get back on a schedule. This past week I was off for spring break, which coincidentally actually felt like spring during the break despite me not actually going outside for its entirety. I was in hibernation mode and needed to catch up on "me time." The weeks leading up to spring break have been extremely stressful and I was in need of a real break. Thank goodness for it. I feel like I'm getting back to my good habits of studying and sleeping enough.

In the end the meal was delicious. I recommend it to all people who want to enjoy a mouthwatering burger and terrific fries. My Classic Smash (TM) was quite smashing along with the fries. The experience of becoming a fan of Smash Burger is just starting. Hopefully you decide to give Smash Burger a chance to "smash" your taste buds like they did mine. They didn't literally "smash" my taste buds, but made me want more.

Disclaimer: This is a review. This is based on my experience. Take my opinion lightly. I'm not being paid to write this article for Smash Burger. I don't own any of the names used by the Smash Burger franchise. They or others own the names.

two women enjoying confetti

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
