Be Smart About Holiday Adoptions

Only Adopt If You're Serious

Personally, I want to adopt a new fur baby every single day. With those holiday adoption specials, the temptation is almost too much to handle! I've seen quite a few shelters offering free adoptions throughout the holidays! While I know it sounds like a good idea to get your significant other a puppy for christmas, it's not always an idea that is thought all the way through.

A huge concern that I have when the holidays roll around is the fact that it becomes much easier and cheaper to adopt a new pet. While I love the idea of all of the animals finding their forever homes, I know that not all of them will be adopted out to their forever homes.

A lot of people adopt a puppy or kitten for someone special over the holidays without taking into consideration that they now have the responsibility of taking care of another living creature. It really is an amazing idea to surprise your girlfriend with a puppy or you son with a new kitten, but are you really ready to take on a pet?

With cheap to free adoptions being promoted throughout the holiday season, a huge amount of animals get adopted out and then returned within a month. It is extremely unfair to that animal to allow it to feel that it's found a family and then bring it back to the cold and lonely life they had at the shelter. Does that really seem fair?

As disappointing as it may be to skip the puppy present this year, it might be the better idea for you and your family. Remind yourself that those animals deserve a family that will love them and take care of them for the rest of their lives. Stuffed animals make an awesome alternative!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
