I moved to a small town when I was thirteen years old, and I fell in love. We made a home there and I ended up loving our small town far more than where we used to live in the first place. Some people enjoy the constant hustle and bustle that occupy big cities, but personally I love the cute and quaint characteristics of a small town. Every town of course has its pros and cons, but I think the pros of living in a small town far out weigh the cons. Here are ten reasons that I personally think small towns are the bomb.
1. A cute downtown.
Sure, a lot of places have a downtown, but I love the cute little shops that always seem to occupy small downtowns. They always sell the most unique items that make great presents!
2. You are familiar with the owners of those cute little shops.
It is a great feeling when you walk into your favorite shop and the owner comes out from behind the counter to great you. We have a small tea shop in my downtown and the owner always greats me with a warm smile and asks me how I am. You don't get that kind of personal service in a larger town.
3. Seeing familiar faces walking down the street.
To some people, this would be classified under a con. However, I love walking around and saying hello to old friends and acquaintances while walking down the street. It gives me a sense of belonging in my home town that people know me and I know them.
4. You can ride your bike anywhere.
We didn't even live in town when we lived in our small town, but my siblings and I still could ride our bikes anywhere and we usually did. We could ride it to the park and to downtown any day that we were feeling bored and it was awesome.
5. No traffic.
Traffic sucks. Enough said.
6. Safety.
There isn't a whole lot going on in a small town as it is, and what is happening isn't crime. Small towns do not have nearly as much crime as a big city, so you can feel safer walking the streets at night.
7. Quiet.
Like I said, there isn't a whole lot going on in a small town. This leads to a lot of peaceful days rocking on your front porch enjoying the peace and quiet.
8. The nature.
Without all of the buildings and roads that occupy a big city, small towns are free to have a lot of woods and large fields. I love nature and I love driving down a sunny road with the windows down and seeing nothing but trees.
9. Space.
Small towns don't tend to be overly crowded. This means that you can have a good sized yard without having to share too much space with your neighbors.
10. Picturesque.
The trees, the small shops, the large fields, and the overall quaintness just lead to a beautiful place that you will love calling home.
