Summer has just begun, at least for us college students anyway. And that means a time for no school, fun, and adventures, right? While this may be true, the majority of us will be returning back to our hometowns for the next three months. And if you are anything like me, your hometown is considered to be small.

A small town isn't really that exciting. I mean, you have the movies, the mall, the parks, the beach, your house, and not really anywhere else to go. Most of the time, whenever I want to hang out with a friend, neither of us knows exactly what to do, because there isn't anything to do. But even if we find ourselves in the smallest of towns, there are a few ideas that could make your summer a little more interesting.

1. Drive around.

This is the first thing on my list whenever my friends and I want to hang out. Even if you don't want to go to the normal shops around town, there may be places that have yet to be explored. Driving around gives people the time to talk, catch up on things, explore new places, and listen to some sweet jams. I like to consider it an adventure. Because you don't know what you will find.

2. Find garage sales.

Ok, so this doesn't happen every day, but if you notice, every so often you can see garage sale signs all around town. Go to one! As someone who has been to many garage sales and has hosted one before, it is a great place to treasure hunt. You may find something you have been searching for a long time. Or you might just have fun walking around neighborhoods and seeing what people are selling. Whatever the outcome, it is sure to be a great time.

3. Organize a get-together, or a party, if you want to call it that.

One thing I know I fill my summers with is seeing old friends who I grew up with. And it is even better if most of them are already friends or know each other. One thing you could do is host a party or a get-together for all of your friends as a way to catch up, talk, have fun, and share juicy gossip about life. Whether you host this at your own home or another venue is entirely up to you. But no matter what, it can be great. And don't forget to tell everyone beforehand.

4. Find a job.

Sure, this may not be the best thing, but having a job during the summer can be an important step for you. This way, you can earn money for when you back to college or for anything else you would want to do this summer. Just be sure to apply for a part-time or temp position if you don't plan on transferring to another store after the summer.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
