"Small Things," the next book from Best Friend Books to be released soon!

A simple picture book reminding children of Mother Theresa’s adage that even if we can’t do great things, we can do small things with great love.

Best Friend Books, LLC

A week ago, our latest book, "Is, Was, Will Be," was released. My partner and the author of Best Friend Books, has written six others. Last week I wrote about one of those "All Means All - a simple book about what it means to be an American." — a book that focuses on the United States Bill of Rights. This week, I finished the illustrations for "Small Things."

"Small Things" is a book based on the following Mother Teresa quote:

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

I approached this book with the idea of creating illustrations that were simple and direct — a bit more so than our previous books. In keeping with our brand, I have "called back" other characters in strategic ways. We want to do this with all our books. You would think that it would be difficult, but the tone and messages in all of Lisa's books, makes the calling back of other characters seamless. Friends from previous releases naturally found their way into "Small Things" in the most appropriate, heartfelt ways.

"Small Things" will, tentatively, be available the second week of February (if not sooner). Please like Best Friend Books' page on Facebook @bestfriendbooksinfo and visit our website for upcoming titles and news.

Best Friend Books’ mission is to empower kids (and adults) and promote loving kindness, and diversity.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. You’ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, there’s no chance you won’t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
