8 Small Movies You Should Add To Your Watching List

In This Article:

These somewhat smaller films are very unique with their cinematography and scripts. They all have amazing acting and tough roles to play. Here are 8 small movies you should add to whatever movie lists you have built up.

1. "T2 Trainspotting"

Giphy

"T2 Trainspotting" is the sequel to Trainspotting 20 years later. Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor) goes back home and meets up with his old buddies who aren't at first happy to see him. It was a perfect sequel to the amazing Trainspotting movie and was neat to see the cast back together. It always has the aesthetically pleasing and trippy cinematography that was featured in the first film.

1. "Dom Hemingway" (2013)

Tumblr

Dom Hemingway (Jude Law) served 12 years in prison and seeks payback for his time spent and to reconcile with his daughter (Emilia Clarke). Dom Hemingway is a wickedly good drama with dark comedy. Jude Laws shows incredible talent in this film.

2. "Feed" (2017)

Olivia (Troian Bellisario) has a twin brother (Tom Felton) who are attached at the hip but his death tears her apart. She starts seeing him and choosing not to eat because she is giving the food to her deceased twin. This film was a new take on an eating disorder and shows great talent from Pretty Little Liar's Troian Bellisario who also wrote the movie as well.

4. "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile" (2019)

Tumblr

This film is about the crimes of Ted Bundy but from the perspective of his girlfriend who didn't believe the truth for years. It shows that he was a charismatic man who had people under his spell and almost got away with horrid crimes. Zac Efron and Lilly Collins played their roles amazingly.

5. "Very Good Girls" (2013)

Giphy

"Very Good Girls" is about two teenagers (Dakota Fanning and Elizabeth Olsen) who both fall in love with the same man which jeopardizes their close friendship. This film shows an awesome friendship but it also creates an emotional drama. Fanning and Olsen's acting is very good and the film was very wholesome.

6. "Poison Ivy" (1992)

Giphy

A teen girl named Sylvie (Sara Gilbert) gets close to an eccentric student who they call Ivy (Drew Barrymore). Ivy gets obsessed with Sylvie's home life and slowly works her way to have her life and take the spot of Sylvie's mother. This movie was an aesthetically pleasing drama/thriller and is perfectly risque in a beautiful way.

7. "Marie Antoinette" (2006)

WeHeartIt

The movie Marie Antionette is a good take on the story of Marie Antionette (Kirsten Dunst) who is married as a teenager. It shows the troubles she faced and her youth filled with luxury until her beheading during the French Revolution. The movie has modern music but traditional fashion that matches the time period. The movie was overall beautiful.

8. "Beautiful Boy" (2018)

Giphy

Nicholas Sheff (Timothee Chalamet) is a teenager with an addiction to meth that starts to ruin his life. His father (Steve Carell) does what he can to save his son. This movie is beautiful and interestingly done. It is very sad and bittersweet.

I loved these movies and how it showed such amazing talent from all who made them. The films also have unique cinematography and ways to tell their story.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
