9 Reasons Why Having A Small Dog Is The Best

Yes, they're cute, but that's not all!

Ever since I found out that Dachshunds, or "wiener dogs", existed I knew I wanted to have one of my own. They are unbelievably cute, tiny, and oh so lovable -- the perfect dog for me, I was sure of it. Now that I have my own little ween to love on, I've discovered some pretty great things about having a small dog.

1. They're adorable.

I guess this one is self explanatory. I mean, who can resist a cute, tiny little fur ball giving you those adorable puppy eyes?

1. They're easy to carry.

Perfect place to ride when we go on adventures! I can see everything!

2. A lot of places will allow small dogs, even if they don't typically allow dogs in the first place.

From stores, to restaurants, to movie theaters, you never know how many places you'll get away with bringing a small dog into that generally wouldn't allow dogs in the first place!

3. They don't eat pounds and pounds of food each day.

A couple cups is all it takes to keep their bellies full and that bag of food will last you a lot longer than you think.

4. They're perfect cuddle buddies.

They love to snuggle and will take just about any opportunity to curl up and fall asleep no matter where you are or what time it is.

5. Sometimes, they let you tuck them into bed.

This usually ends with them throwing a fit that they're trapped under blankets but it's cute while it lasts.

6. They can go just about anywhere with you.

I love taking my little pup pretty much everywhere I go. Being as tiny as they are allows for a (somewhat) easy time taking them places, which is a great way to bond with your fur baby and gives them adventures to remember for a lifetime. It's always nice to have an adorable sidekick on the adventures you go on.

7. When they sleep with you, they don't take up the entire bed.

All they really need is a little corner at the end of the bed or half the pillow and they're good. No worrying about being shoved off the bed in the middle of the night because your dog decided they wanted a little more leg room!

8. They look really cute when they sit in your sink.

I guess not everyone puts their puppy in the sink, but I did...

9. They fit perfectly into your lap...and your life.

Tiny dogs are the perfect size to curl up in your lap and fall asleep, and you wouldn't have it any other way.

Small dogs have such a way of sneaking into the hearts of everyone they encounter. I used to think I would never love small dogs as much as big dogs, but here I am with my own little dachshund, planning on adopting so many more little fur babies.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
