Slow Down And Enjoy Senior Year

One day you'll want it back.

Don't take high school for granted.

High school should be where you make the most memories and have the most fun. They say that about college as well, but college is much more serious. It is the step before the rest of your life. High school should be taken seriously, but have fun too. Don't worry about the petty drama and enjoy yourself.

I promise you will have more fun if you do what makes you happy rather than doing what makes your "clique" happy. Go to prom, go to every game, join all the clubs. Just do you and don't wish high school away.

Five reasons you shouldn't take high school for granted:

1. You see your friends every day.

The people you've grown up with all your life. Your day 1's. The ones who you have some of the oldest, but best memories with. You don't get that every day once you move away.

2. Football.

If you go to a small college there really nothing to look forward to on the weekends besides going home. Sure you can go back to a high school game, but it's not quite the same. Go to every game and cheer like it's the last game because sooner than later it's going to be.

3. No Homework

I'm sure there was homework, but compared to college you had none. For real.

4. Home Cooked Meals

When you came home from school or practice dinner was always in the making or already made for you. College, you either spend money or pray it's something good in the car.

5. You Can Relax

You actually had a lot of time to watch Netflix or go cruise town with your friends. Lets be real, prom is the most stressful thing about high school and the ACT. At college you're glad you made it through each day.

I realize that these are super simple things, but I promise once it's gone you won't know how much you miss it and took it for granted. We do not mean to, but that is just how some of us are. We wish things would speed up in life, when nothing is wrong with what we have right in front of us. You have four years with people you made a thousand memories with. I would love to go back to high school again with my girls and cheer in the student section one more time. But I cant. When it's over, it's over.

College is fun and you make new friends, but high school is something you will never get back. Ever. So enjoy those four years because they fly by

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
