On August 9th of 2019, Slipknot will release their 6th studio album "We Are Not Your Kind." The band's last full-length album was released back in late 2014, which was ".5: The Gray Chapter," and now come together again to create what frontman, Corey Taylor, says is some of the darkest writing that he's done in years. It's said that they've moved somewhat back to the heaviness that could be seen in some earlier albums such as "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses" and their breakthrough album, "Iowa," and being a little more experimental as well.
Slipknot has already released a couple of songs that will be seen on the album, which are "All Out Life," which they released on last Halloween, and "Unsainted," only uploaded to Youtube a couple of days again. We even had the luxury to see them perform them on Jimmy Kimmel Live Concert Series, and safe to say that these songs are indeed bangers. My summer will be spent having these on replay.
In addition to announcing the new album, the band will be taking their "Knotfest" on the road this summer with the help of Behemoth, Gojira, and Volbeat. Now that's a lineup. If you haven't had a chance to read my previous article "Who's 'The Big Four' Of Metal Today?" I did say that Gojira, Behemoth, and Slipknot would all be on the list so you can imagine how hard I'm fangirling over this.
We are so not ready for this, not because it has been a fat minute since the last album, and felt like an eternity with a bit of Knot in our lives, but because it's going to feel so nostalgic since they're going back to their roots a little bit, all our middle school childhood memories are going to come flooding back, both good and bad, and all will be well with the universe again.
