SLIME RANCHER!!!!!

Ever since I saw someone play Slime Rancher on YouTube I was OBSESSED!

I mean how can these cute little slimes not capture your heart?

Slime Rancher is an indie life simulation game and was made by developer Monomi Park and designer Nick Popvich. I quickly purchased the game and played it quite a bit. I built corrals to keep the slimes in and maintained gardens so I could feed them. As a player you could collect all different types of slimes such as the most abundant pink slime above and even others such as Tabby and Rock slimes and they have added new slimes with new updates such as the rather new and beautiful Crystal slime. The different types of slimes also had different eating habits, such as the carnivorous Hunter slime, which feeds on chickens in the game and, when fed, will drop a hunter plort.

A cool thing about the slimes also is they actually have a favorite type of foods, to continue with the hunter slime example they love roosters so will actually often time drop two plorts rather than one and show a heart above their head or body thing. Another cool thing is you can also feed slimes other slime plorts so they can become two different slimes just as a Pink Tabby slime -- or, if you're feeling dangerous, a Radioactive Crystal slime. The danger with this however is if they ingest three different types of plorts they become Tarr which love to eat your other slimes, but worry not all you have to do is splash them with a little bit of water to make them go away.

The developers initially started out with having a pretty basic game set up and fairly easy gameplay. When it first started out all you really did was corral slimes, feed them then collect their plorts they produced from eating and cash them in. There were of course cool little side-quest things you could do like feeding the many Gordo slimes so you could then get a slime key to explore a new area and discover more slimes or possibly even quicker ways to get to certain areas. Such as with an update they had after the game's appearance of adding a teleport system where when you feed some Gordo slimes they don't give you a key but rather display a teleport which can take you to various places on the map.

The newest update which I am VERY EXCITED about is the slime science update. So naturally because the game is rather simple I have accumulated over 150,000 Newbucks which is quite a lot considered I have fully upgraded all of my corrals, gardens and my Vacpack. That's why I was so excited to hear word of the Slime Rancher update release date: November 28.

For those who don't know, Slime Science allows you to craft different items and place them all over the world -- which is pretty exciting! Don't get me wrong -- the game is beautiful and each landscape is different, but this is a way to personalize your world and make it more unique. One of the gadgets also seems to be a sort of display where you can show your favorite slime or you could even use them as signs to label an area of its most populous slime which is pretty cool.

To get the Slime Science Lab you will have to purchase it as an expansion onto your ranch just like you would with Overgrowth and the Grotto. According to the Slime Rancher Wiki page it is stated that the Slime Science Lab is actually in a barn left behind from the past owner. It takes 10,000 Newbucks to unlock and it is also stated that unless you are an experienced player with an abundance of resources not to necessarily open it yet because it does require a lot of resources.

Regardless, I hope you guys are just as excited as I am. This is going to be so fun and also just to let you know they are having a sale on it on Steam where it is 33% off making it go from about $20 to $13! So if you want to try it out, it's pretty cheap and let me know your thoughts about it in the comments below! Thanks for reading!

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
