1. "Sleepless In Seattle"
Thirty years ago, on June 25th, 1993, moviegoers around the world sat down in darkened theaters and experienced a cinematic journey that quickly stole their hearts. This year, we celebrate the 30th anniversary of "Sleepless in Seattle," a movie that revitalized the romantic comedy genre and still remains one of the most beloved films of its kind.

"Sleepless in Seattle" brought together the iconic on-screen pair, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan, in a poignant tale of destiny and enduring love. Directed by the legendary Nora Ephron, the film deftly weaves an intricate tapestry of emotion, romance, and heartfelt humor. Its enduring appeal is a testament to Ephron's vision, the chemistry of its stars, and the beautifully crafted story.

Even now, three decades later, the film's magic hasn't faded. Set against the backdrop of Seattle's city lights and the grandeur of the Empire State Building, "Sleepless in Seattle" transcends geographical boundaries and explores the depths of the human heart. The film invites viewers to believe in destiny and the idea that, despite the odds, the universe conspires to bring soulmates together.

Tom Hanks, as Sam Baldwin, delivered a performance that is both touching and genuine. His portrayal of a widowed architect, torn between his grief and his son's quest to find him a new partner, is nothing short of masterful. Meg Ryan, on the other hand, brings to life Annie Reed, a journalist engaged to another yet inexplicably drawn to Sam. Her struggle, balancing societal expectations and the pull of her heart, resonates with viewers even today.

Their unforgettable performances are complemented by an outstanding supporting cast and an evocative score. And who could forget the iconic finale atop the Empire State Building, a scene inspired by the classic film "An Affair to Remember" and forever etched in the annals of romantic cinema?

"Sleepless in Seattle" is a warm, charming, and beautifully nuanced film that has stood the test of time. It has aged gracefully over the past three decades, much like a fine wine. It remains a cornerstone of the romantic comedy genre and is a testament to the power of love, destiny, and, of course, the magic of good storytelling.

As we commemorate the 30th anniversary of "Sleepless in Seattle," we celebrate not just a film, but an experience, a feeling, and a shared memory. It reminds us to listen to our hearts and to believe in the power of destiny. And above all, it allows us to once again cherish the timeless truth that somewhere out there, love is waiting, even in our sleepless nights.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."
