Wake up, thrive, sleep and repeat. Wake up, thrive, sleep and repeat. This is our daily routine to be able to function in society. We have a morning routine and daily ritual that helps us remain sane, alert and comprehensive.

Once that is thrown off and our sleep schedule becomes inconsistent, well that is when life, in general, begins to decline. You can become distant during the day and doze off either in class or working with friends, leaving yourself useless to them because of your lack of sleep.

See when sleeping habits are thrown off and we are not alert during the day due to the lack of rest our body needs, everything around you will begin to decline. Preventing this is tough and creating a consistent schedule is essential, the key to all of this is balance.

The balance between too much sleep and too little is essential. Where to start is first surrounding yourself with a group of others who go to sleep at a decent time and choose to get a good night’s rest over staying up and watching TV. Then it is your own personal rules to abide by and set a time limit on your schedule of the day.

Finally, you need reliability and routine, having a reliable sleeping schedule with others around you and consistently keeping a routine will lead you down a road of happier days and better nights of sleep.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
