Last year, as an assignment for Directing for TV and Film, I created a short video exploring the mind of the sleep deprived student.
The video explores the question of "When did you last sleep?" using my girlfriend's, Josie Stocks' animation to illustrate the recurring dream the student has. The images shown in rapid succession convey a wider sense of this student's life, revealing his habit of letting people down, missing sleep, and zoning out are not simply a single instance but a habit. The video explores the beauty found in sleep, and invites the viewer to think about the merits of sleep and overworking. As we start a new semester, I wanted to share this video as a way to remind people to think about where their priorities are, and as a warning to myself and others to not overwork ourselves. Enjoy!
