When Your Skinny Friend Calls herself Fat

She tells me she went to the emergency room

Because she lost 12 pounds in a week.

I guess that is a problem

When you weigh less than 180. I wish

I could lose 12 pounds a week;

I have a goal of 80. My body

Mass is exactly the double of hers. I am

Either two people, or one average NFL defense

Holding a small teenager.



I ordered four boxes of Samoa Girl Scout cookies

On Wednesday

Church is in an hour, and I’m sitting at the kitchen table

Contemplating the opening of the last box

For lunch.



Sometimes when you don’t wash away your makeup before bed,

Your mascara accumulates in the creases of your eye rolls.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
