These days, social media bombards us with product advertisements. Hosts of Youtubers make videos reviewing makeup and skincare products, prompting people to go out and buy or steer clear of new products. The problem that sometimes arises with this is the idea that you NEED these products more then you do or that you have to spend money to get good makeup.

There are ways to get skincare and makeup products that won't cost a ton of money. For instance, E.L.F (Eyes. Lips. Face Cosmetics) is a makeup line that is cruelty free and sells a large variety of products for those on a budget. This can be important because items add up very fast and often end up costing more than you thought initially.

Another great brand that does not run too pricey and is cruelty free is NYX cosmetics. NYX cosmetics stays up to date on the new trends and makes great dupes (cheaper versions of high quality products) of them. NYX sells liquid lipsticks in multiple colors for $6.99 at stores like Ulta Beauty and Target. So instead of spending $19.99 for an Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick, you can spend less than half as much by buying a different brand.

This also applies to skincare musts, like sunscreen and facial cleansers. Some of the leading brands such as Perricone MD can run fairly pricey. Although quality face care is worth it, not everybody has the money to drop when it comes to these types of necessities. The brands Neutrogena and Aveeno both provide face and body sunscreen for normally under a price range of around $10.

When it comes to acne lines, from personal experience and thinking about money conscientiously, the brand Acne Free is a steal. Acne Free has a regular and sensitive skin kit that both cost $19.99 as well as a severe acne kit that costs $29.99. This brand is just as good as Proactive and has a similar system to it. There is a cleanser, toner and spot cream that come in each kit. The severe acne kit is the only kit that includes one additional item, thus the additional price.

So, the next time you go out looking for skincare or makeup products, remember to look into the alternatives for insanely expensive products. After all, the more money you save, the more you have to spend on clothes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
