DOs:
1. CeraVe
The CeraVe skincare line has better ingredients than most high-end brands and won't break the bank, which is ideal for a broke high school/college student. Their skincare is gentle and simple, leaving out harmful, skin-stripping properties. After using CeraVe for only two weeks, I saw a huge difference in my skin.
2. Chemical Exfoliators
Chemical exfoliators use well, chemicals, to exfoliate your skin instead of small cleansing beads or sugar, which is less likely to physically damage your skin. The only thing to be wary of is if you have sensitive skin or a damaged moisture barrier. Just remember to always use sparingly. Less is more!
3. Two-Method Makeup Cleansing
In my personal skincare Feng Shui, I use a cleansing balm and then follow with micellar water on a reusable makeup towelette. The cleansing balm melts my makeup right off, and the micellar water cleans anything the balm missed, including excessive skin oils.
DON'Ts:
4. Disposable Makeup Wipes
Most disposable makeup wipes, like Neutrogena, use harsh chemicals that can leave you with dry, irritated, unhappy skin. You might as well rub battery acid on your face and pray to the skincare gods for forgiveness. Instead, use micellar water with a reusable makeup towelette to not only reduce waste but also to save your skin from a possible reaction.
5. Witch Hazel
Witch Hazel is known to have astringent properties that can harshly dry out your skin, breach, and in some cases, destroy the skin's moisture barrier. This is a very controversial skincare product, but from my experience, it will strip your skin.
Take care of your skin, Queen.
